History

Ōitai Station was opened on 1 November 1987 by the Amagi Railway, a third-sector public-private partnership operator, as an additional station inserted into its existing Amagi Line track. The station, in the city of Ogōri, Fukuoka Prefecture, sits 4.5 kilometres from the line's starting point at Kiyama, and all Amagi Line trains stop here. Originally a ground-level station, it was rebuilt on an elevated structure in December 2003 to accommodate the opening of the prefectural road below. A single side platform now sits above ground with a shelter for waiting passengers, and a toilet building has been built underneath the elevated tracks.
