History
Maehama Station opened on 10 March 1990 as a new stop on the Matsuura Railway Nishi-Kyūshū Line, which had been converted to the third-sector Matsuura Railway in 1988. The station is located in the Hiraomen district of Shirakawa-chō within the city of Matsuura in Nagasaki Prefecture, and has a single side platform with no station building, though a waiting room and toilet are provided. The unstaffed station sits between Takashimaguchi and Tsukinokawa stops on a line that runs between Imari or Saza and the wider Matsuura network.

Notes
Maehama's platform faces away from the sea, but the station is so close to the shoreline that the sound of waves is sometimes audible from the platform.
