History

Yamadani Station is an unstaffed halt in Arita, Saga Prefecture, on the Nishi-Kyūshū Line. The station opened on 16 March 1991 as a new stop added to the line by the third-sector Matsuura Railway, which had taken over the former JR Kyushu Matsuura Line in 1988. It sits 7.0 km from Arita and consists of a single ground-level side platform with a bi-directional track. There is no station building, only a small waiting shelter for passengers.

Notes

The station carries the nickname "Tanada Hyakusen Take no Tanada no Eki" (Station of "Take Terraced Rice Fields", one of the 100 Best Rice Terraces of Japan), adopted on 11 May 2015 because the Take terraces lie just west of the platform.
