History
Takahashi Station, in the Asahi neighbourhood of Takeo, Saga Prefecture, opened on 21 August 1923 as an additional stop added by Japanese Government Railways on what was then the Nagasaki Main Line. On 1 December 1934 a new route was designated as the Nagasaki Main Line and the existing track through Takahashi was redesignated as the Sasebo Line. Goods handling ceased on 15 February 1962, and parcel handling and on-site staff were both withdrawn on 1 April 1972. On 4 August 1976 concentrated rainfall flooded the station premises and the resulting electrical-system failure suspended the entire line. Privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 transferred the station to JR Kyushu. The station building was renovated in 1989 in a Dutch-architectural style, and SUGOCA IC service began on 3 October 2024.

Notes
Takahashi's station building, renovated in 1989, is finished in a Dutch architectural style — an unusual choice for a rural unstaffed station on the Sasebo Line.
