History
Suya opened on the Kumamoto Electric Railway Kikuchi Line on 26 August 1913. It has remained a single-side-platform stop without a station building for its entire history, the platform sheltered only by a basic rain canopy. Kumamoto regional IC Card service via the Kumamon IC Card began on 1 April 2015, and the station was assigned the number KD14 when line-wide station numbering was introduced on 1 October 2019. The stop sits in Kōshi city, takes its name from the former Suya Castle of feudal lord Suya Ichizō, and offers a single track with an IC reader on the platform but no other facilities or staff.
