History
Kita-Kumamoto Station opened on 1 April 1949 as a junction on the Kumamoto Electric Railway, located 3.4 km from the Kikuchi Line's origin at Kami-Kumamoto. It also serves as the terminus of the 2.3 km Fujisaki Line to Fujisakigū-mae. The above-ground station has one side platform and one island platform connected by a level crossing for two platforms and three tracks in total, alongside several sidings and a maintenance shed (car depot).
