History
Ikeda Station opened on 1 October 1950 as a Kumamoto Electric Railway station on the Kikuchi Line. The Kumamoto regional IC card "Kumamon's IC CARD" was made available at the station on 1 April 2015, and station numbering was introduced on 1 October 2019. The station has a single side platform serving one track, no station building beyond a simple platform rain canopy, and is unstaffed; an IC-card reader (entry-only) is installed on the platform.
