History

Miharashidai Station opened on 1 October 1986 on Minami Aso Railway's Takamori Line, 16.1 km from the Tateno starting point. The station sits in Minamiaso village near the boundary with Takamori town and consists of a single side platform at grade with a log-cabin-style station building; it is unattended. The original platform-top observation deck (referenced in the station name 'lookout point') was removed when the current cabin-style structure replaced the deteriorating original. Service on the whole line was suspended after the Kumamoto earthquakes of 14 April 2016 and resumed on the Nakamatsu–Takamori section, including this station, on 31 July 2016.

Notes

Built on rural farmland with a daily ridership reported as roughly one passenger, Miharashidai's log-cabin building was prominent in Kirin Beverage's Gogo no Kōcha television commercial campaign.
