History
Nishi-Karashima-chō opened on 20 June 1929 as Karashima-machi Station (辛島町停留場), was renamed Nishi-Karashima-machi on 28 August 1936, abolished sometime after 1945, and revived in 1955 — at which point it was relocated 100 m towards the line's endpoint from the original opening location. Notes
The annual Kumamoto-jō Marathon every February imposes traffic restrictions that prevent through running here, so trams from the Kami-Kumamoto direction terminate at Nishi-Karashima-chō and turn back via the crossover south of Karashima Park.
