History
Kajiya-chō opened on 17 December 1915 on the Kagoshima Electric Tramway. The former Ishiki Line, which branched off here, was abolished on 1 October 1985 along with the Route 3 service that used it. The stop now serves only Route 2 of the Kagoshima City Tram. The platforms have the standard relative layout at street level. The station name refers to the local district, an area especially associated with the boyhood of Meiji-Restoration figures including Ōkubo Toshimichi.
