History
Matsugaura Station is a JR Kyushu Ibusuki Makurazaki Line halt at Chiran-chō Minami-Befu, Minamikyūshū, Kagoshima. It opened on 31 October 1963 as a station on the JNR Ibusuki Makurazaki Line, the date the Ibusuki Line was extended westward to Makurazaki and reorganised as the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line — eight stations including Matsugaura were opened simultaneously. It opened from the outset as an unstaffed passenger-only station handling neither freight nor parcels. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, it passed to JR Kyushu. The station has a single side platform with one track; there is no station building, and passengers reach the platform via stairs.
