History

Kyōzuka Station opened on 1 October 2019 as part of the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail) extension from Shuri to Tedako-Uranishi, in the Maeda district of Urasoe. Designated station 17, it had been provisionally proposed by the City of Urasoe as "Kokusai Center-mae Station," with the present name confirmed on 26 December 2014. The station is an elevated structure with an island platform serving two tracks, and on 10 March 2020 it began accepting the Suica IC card. Although the station address is in Maeda, it primarily serves the Kyōzuka neighbourhood immediately to the west.

Notes

The station chime is an arrangement of "Habera Bushi" from the kumiodori play "Nidō Tekiuchi," chosen because the grave of Tamagusuku Chōkun — the founder of kumiodori — lies nearby.
