Asahibashi Station opened on 10 August 2003 with the inaugural Naha Airport–Shuri segment of the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail), the first rail line on Okinawa since World War II. It is an elevated stop with two side platforms serving two tracks, situated near the Naha Bus Terminal in central Naha. OKICA contactless smart card support was added on 20 October 2014, with the ten major Japanese IC cards including Suica becoming usable from 10 March 2020.
