History

Chiebun Station opened on 3 November 1911 on what is now the Soya Main Line, in the city of Nayoro, Hokkaidō. The station is a ground-level halt with a single side platform on the west side of the line, served by a converted Yo3500 series brake-van structure as its station building. Operation passed from Japanese National Railways to JR Hokkaido at the 1 April 1987 privatisation. The station is unstaffed; according to JR Hokkaido data, fiscal 2022 saw an average of about three passengers per day. It sits beside Chiebun Marsh and Hokkaido Highway 252 on the flatlands northeast of central Nayoro.
