History

Nishi-Jūhatchōme Station opened on 10 June 1976 as part of the inaugural Tōzai Line section of the Sapporo Municipal Subway, between Kotoni and Shiroishi. The station has two opposed underground platforms with separate ticket gates for each direction, linked beneath the tracks by a passenger underpass. Platform-edge sliding doors were brought into service on 26 December 2008. The originally numbered Exits 1 through 5 were later joined by a Exit 6 when the adjacent Medicare Center building was constructed. On 1 June 2025 the secondary name 'Sapporo Medicare Building Keiwa-mae' was added to the signage. The station ranks third in passenger volume on the Tōzai Line after Ōdōri and Shin-Sapporo.

Notes

The station stamp incorporates the letter 'N' (for Nishi) with an illustration of the official residence of the Governor of Hokkaido tucked inside it.
