History
Musa Station opened on 13 March 1988 as a JR Hokkaido passenger halt purpose-built to serve a newly developed residential area in the eastern part of Kushiro. Initial operation included a dispatched ticket clerk, but that arrangement ended on 15 March 1994 when neighbouring Higashi-Kushiro was unstaffed, leaving Musa as a fully unstaffed stop managed from Kushiro. The station consists of a single side platform with a small lean-to shelter and no main building. It is served by all stopping trains on the Hanasaki Line section of the Nemuro Main Line and historically by the southbound rapid "Nosappu".

Notes
The Ainu word "mosa" — interpreted by John Batchelor as referring to the nettle plant used to weave the traditional retarpe garment — is one of the leading proposed origins for the station name.
