History
Urahoro Station is a JR Hokkaido station on the Nemuro Main Line, located in the town of Urahoro, Tokachi District, 95.4 km from the line's starting point at Shintoku. It opened on 25 December 1903 as a station of the Hokkaidō Kansetsu Tetsudō, and was transferred to the Ministry of Railways on 1 April 1905. Freight handling ended in 1982 and parcels in 1984. After the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways, the station came under JR Hokkaido. The station serves two opposed side platforms connected by a footbridge, is staffed, and retains a Midori no Madoguchi ticket office at the centre of Urahoro's main urban area.

Notes
The station name derives from the Ainu words "urara-poro" ("abundant fog") or "orap-oro" ("place of yamashakuyaku").
