History
Tomakomai Station opened on 1892-08-01 in what is now Tomakomai, Hokkaido. It is operated today by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) and serves as a junction of three lines — the Muroran Main Line, the Chitose Line, and the Hidaka Main Line. The station is an above-ground structure with two platforms serving four tracks, and is currently a stop for the Hokuto (Sapporo – Hakodate) and Suzuran (Sapporo – Muroran) limited expresses. It also previously hosted the now-discontinued overnight Cassiopeia and Hokutosei sleeper trains between Ueno and Sapporo.
