History
Minmaya Station opened on 1958-10-21 as the northern terminus of the Japanese National Railways Tsugaru Line, where its name was initially read Miumaya. Freight handling ended in 1984 and parcel service in 1985; JR East took over at the 1987 privatisation, and the present reading Minmaya was officially adopted on 1991-03-16. Centralised traffic control reached the section on 2019-04-29 and the station became unstaffed on 2019-06-01. Heavy rain on 2022-08-03 damaged track north of Kanita and services have been suspended ever since, replaced by buses; on 2025-06-10 JR East and local authorities agreed to formally abolish the station on 2027-04-01.
