History

Chibiki Station opened on 15 November 1910 as a stop on the Government Railways' Tōhoku Main Line in what is now Tōhoku town, Aomori Prefecture. From 20 October 1962 it shared its site with the privately operated Nanbu Jūkan Railway. On 5 August 1968 the Tōhoku Main Line was slightly realigned and Chibiki was rebuilt at its present location; the original station was renamed Nishi-Chibiki and continued to serve the Nanbu Jūkan line until that railway closed. Freight handling ended with the move and the stop became unstaffed. With the JNR split on 1 April 1987 it came under JR East, and on 4 December 2010 the section transferred to the Aoimori Railway Company.

Notes

In 2018 the station averaged just two daily boardings - the lowest figure of any stop on the entire Aoimori Railway Line.
