History

Shirogane Station is a JR East Hachinohe Line halt in the city of Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture, 10.3 kilometres from the line's starting point at Hachinohe Station. It opened on 1 June 1934 as a station of the Japanese Government Railways. Operations were suspended on 31 March 1944 during the wartime curtailment and passenger services were restored on 15 November 1952. The station passed to JR East at the 1 April 1987 JNR break-up. On 10 December 2005 it was destaffed, with an automatic ticket machine installed the following February. A single side platform serves one bi-directional track; the only platform structure is a small rain shelter.
