History
Ōmagoshi Station is an unstaffed JR East Gonō Line stop in the town of Fukaura, Aomori Prefecture, 39.9 kilometres from the line's terminus at Higashi-Noshiro. It opened on 26 December 1930 as a Railway Ministry station and passed to JR East at the 1 April 1987 JNR break-up. On 1 October 1971 freight and parcels were discontinued and the station was destaffed. The current capsule-style station building, with a waiting room and a now-disused ticket window, dates from a 1979 rebuild. The platform was originally two opposed side platforms but has been reduced to a single side platform. The next station south, Iwadate, lies across the Aomori–Akita prefectural border.
