History
Ugo-Nagatoro Station opened on November 1, 1970 as a Japan National Railways (JNR) Kakunodate Line station serving the then-village of Nishiki, Akita Prefecture. With the line's privatisation on November 1, 1986, operations passed to the third-sector Akita Nairiku Jūkan Railway, which continues to operate the station today. It consists of a single side platform serving one bi-directional track; there is no station building, only a small shelter on the platform, and the station is unstaffed. Ugo-Nagatoro lies 77.9 kilometres from the line's terminus at Takanosu Station, near Lake Tazawa in the city of Semboku.
