History
Konashi Station opened on 1928-09-02 on what would become the Ōfunato Line in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture. Freight handling ended on 1962-03-01, parcel handling stopped on 1972-11-01, and the station was made unattended that same year under an agricultural-cooperative simple consignment. It transferred to JR East at the 1987-04-01 privatisation of the Japanese National Railways. The simple consignment ended in July 2005, after which the station became fully unstaffed, and a replacement station building was completed in October 2006. The station is now managed remotely from Kesennuma Station and is served by a single side platform handling bidirectional traffic.
