History

Uzen-Toyosato Station opened on 1921-12-15 on the Ōu Main Line in what is now the village of Sakegawa, Yamagata Prefecture. Freight handling ended on 1962-10-01 and parcel handling on 1970-10-01, the same date the station was made staff-less and put under a simple consignment. It transferred to JR East at the 1987-04-01 privatisation of the Japanese National Railways. The consignment was lifted on 2007-04-01 and the station became fully unattended. A replacement station building came into use on 2009-03-29, after the original wooden structure was deemed too dilapidated. The layout has been reduced from an island platform to a single side platform.
