History
Minami-Sagae Station began operation on 25 December 1951 on the Aterazawa Line in the city of Sagae, Yamagata Prefecture, operated by Japanese National Railways and absorbed into JR East on 1 April 1987. The station is unstaffed, has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, and is located 13.5 km from the line's starting point at Kita-Yamagata. A waiting room was added in 2002. In March 2024 the Sendai-area Suica IC card zone was extended into Yamagata Prefecture, and Minami-Sagae became one of the smaller Aterazawa Line stations to accept Suica.
