History
Kuzuoka Station opened on 1991-03-16 on the Senzan Line in Aoba-ku, Sendai, primarily to serve a then-new condominium complex; the property's developer fully funded construction of the station. Initially only trains running between Sendai and the Ayashi/Sakunami sections stopped, with Yamagata-bound services passing through. Suica compatibility was added on 2003-10-26, and on 2006-12-15 the administrative parent station moved from Kita-Sendai to Ayashi. From 2023-03-18 all Senzan Line trains, including formerly express services running locally between Sendai and Ayashi, began stopping at the station. The platform sits atop an embankment, reached by stairs from the lower-level station building.

Notes
The station was built and paid for in full by the developer of an adjacent condominium project, an unusual private financing arrangement on the JR East network.
