History
Taishidō Station opened on 18 March 2007 as a petitioned station on the elevated section of the Tōhoku Main Line just south of Sendai. It was added to support the "Asuto Nagamachi" redevelopment of the former Sendai railway operations centre site, with the cost of about 1.1 billion yen shared between the city of Sendai and the Urban Renaissance Agency. The single island platform handles up to nine-car trains and is served by Tōhoku Main Line, Jōban Line and Sendai Airport Access Line services; through trains for Sendai Airport pass through without stopping. The provisional name had been "Minami-Nagamachi", but it was changed to avoid confusion with the existing Nagamachi-Minami subway station nearby.
