History
Tokiniwa Station opened on 15 November 1914 on the Nagai Light Railway, the predecessor of today's Flower Nagai Line, between the Akayu terminus and Nagai. Freight handling ceased in June 1961, and the station became a contracted operation in April 1965. Parcel handling was withdrawn in October 1971 and the station was unstaffed thereafter. Operations passed to JR East at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 and were transferred to the third-sector Yamagata Railway on 25 October 1988. The halt consists of a single side platform serving traffic in both directions.
