History

Oroshimachi Station opened on 1 July 1988 on the Abukuma Express Line in the city of Fukushima, Fukushima Prefecture, when the line was inaugurated as a successor to the former JNR Marumori Line. The station sits 5.6 km from the line’s starting point at Fukushima. It is named after the surrounding wholesale district, which clusters around the Fukushima Central Wholesale Market and a major distribution depot. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track. After being placed under contract with the Fukushima Silver Personnel Centre in April 2005, it returned to unattended operation on 1 April 2012. In fiscal 2016 it averaged 332 boarding passengers per day.

Notes

There is a second Oroshimachi Station in Miyagi Prefecture on the Sendai Subway Tōzai Line; the Fukushima-Prefecture suffix “(Fukushima)” in the English Wikipedia title is needed to distinguish the two.
