History

Kita-Yoshida Station, on JR East's Echigo Line, opened on 8 April 1984 in the city of Tsubame, Niigata, as a Japanese National Railways passenger-only halt between Yoshida and Iwamuro. It has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track and was unattended from the start. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR East, and from 21 January 2006 Suica fare cards have been accepted. There is no station building proper; instead a waiting hut with a toilet stands beside the platform entrance, with a simple Suica gate and a proof-of-departure ticket machine inside.

Notes

Unlike most stations on this section of the Echigo Line, Kita-Yoshida was built unstaffed from day one and has never had a proper station building — just a waiting hut adjoining the platform.
