History

Onobori Station opened on 1 October 1955 as a Japanese National Railways station on the Banetsu West Line, set 101.0 rail kilometres from the line's start at Kōriyama. Control passed to JR East at JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987. The unattended halt has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, with the platform sitting against the western station building. The station structure itself functions only as a waiting room, with a separate toilet adjacent. Onobori is managed by Niitsu Station and sits in an isolated rural area of Tosejima in the town of Nishi-Aizu, surrounded by farmhouses and fields between the Banetsu West Line stops of Ogino and Nozawa.
