History
Mitsuke Station opened on 1898-06-16 on what is now the Shinetsu Main Line, 84.4 kilometres east of the line's terminus at Naoetsu. It serves the city of Mitsuke in central Niigata Prefecture. JR East assumed operations on 1987-04-01 at JNR privatisation. The current platform layout consists of two ground-level opposed side platforms connected by a footbridge, serving two tracks. The station remains the principal rail access for the city, despite the gradual decline in passenger numbers typical of the Shinetsu corridor since the Jōetsu Shinkansen opened upstream at Nagaoka in 1982.
