History
Yonomori Station opened on 15 March 1921 on the Jōban Line in what is now the town of Tomioka, Fukushima Prefecture, 253.0 km from the line's official starting point at Nippori. Operations passed to JR East on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways. The station was closed on 11 March 2011 in the aftermath of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, sitting within the evacuation zone surrounding the plant; the area to the west reopened to daytime entry from August 2012, but the station and the area to the east remained off-limits due to high radiation. After rebuilding, the station reopened on 18 December 2019, with the surrounding exclusion zone lifted on 14 March 2020.
