History
Iwaki-Moriyama Station opened on 10 May 1929 on the Suigun Line. Freight handling ended on 1 July 1982, and on 1 June 1983 — coinciding with the introduction of CTC operation on the Suigun Line — the station was destaffed, parcel handling ended, the passing loop was removed, and the station became a simplified-agency stop with a local shop selling tickets. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR East. The station building was rebuilt in 1997. The simplified-agency arrangement was discontinued and the station fully unstaffed on 31 March 2017, and station-area administration moved to Hitachi-Daigo Station in April 2018.
