History
Uonuma-Kyūryō Station opened on 22 March 1997 with the full opening of the Hokuetsu Express Hokuhoku Line between Muikamachi and Saigata. The station serves the city of Minamiuonuma, Niigata and is 3.6 kilometers from the line's starting point at Muikamachi. It is built on an embankment with a single elevated side platform along a bi-directional track, and the platform is short enough that only trains of up to two cars in length can use it. The station is unattended, and the entrance to the Hokuhoku Line's Akakura tunnel begins immediately northwest of the platform.
