History

Yumoto Station opened on 1897-02-25 on what is now the Jōban Line, 201.5 kilometres from Ueno. The previous station building was completed in March 1967, and JR East took over operations on 1987-04-01 at JNR privatisation. A new station building was completed in March 2015. The platform layout consists of one island and one side platform connected to the building by a footbridge, with a staffed Midori no Madoguchi ticket office. The station serves as the rail gateway to the Iwaki-Yumoto hot-spring resort and the Spa Resort Hawaiians complex, both within walking distance.
