History
Iwaki-Ishii Station opened on 10 October 1931 on the Suigun Line. Freight handling ended on 20 November 1962. As part of a 1 October 1970 modernisation of Suigun Line operations, parcel handling ended and the station was destaffed (with a simplified ticket-agency arrangement). With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it came under JR East. The station building was rebuilt in 1998 and now consists of a doorless waiting shelter. The station has a single bidirectional side platform; the unused opposite platform from the days of two-track passing service is still in place.
