Shin-Yoshihisa Station

History

Shin-Yoshihisa Station is a Manyosen Takaoka Kidō Line tram stop in Yoshihisa, Takaoka, Toyama. It opened on 1 April 1951 as a Toyama Chihō Railway intermediate stop on the new Yonejimaguchi–Shin-Minato (today Rokudōji) section, passed to Kaetsunō Railway on 1 April 1959, and to Manyosen on 1 April 2002. A southbound platform was newly built on 3 July 2017, and the byname "TEK Recycle Centre-mae" was adopted; from 1 May 2020 the Takaoka City Sanitation Public Corporation extended this as a paid naming-rights deal under the name "TEK Recycle Centre Takaoka Shin-Yoshihisa". The northbound platform remains a painted-on stop without a raised platform because the road there cannot easily be widened.

Notes

Three Takaoka Kidō Line stops — Katahara-machi, Shin-Yoshihisa and Yoshihisa — used to be paint-only platforms because the road there is too narrow for a raised stop, and were repeatedly the site of pedestrian-versus-car collisions. A fatal accident at Shin-Yoshihisa in February 2008 and a critical-injury incident in September 2013 led to the 2017 platform rebuild on the downbound side.
