History
Yokoyama Station opened on 15 June 1901 as a general station of Nanao Railway, on the Uno-ke–Takamatsu section. The Nanao Railway was nationalised under the Railway Nationalisation Act on 1 July 1907, and from 12 October 1909 the line became the JNR Nanao Line. The second station building was constructed in March 1929. Freight handling ended in 1960 and parcel handling in 1972, when the station also became unattended. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways the station passed to JR West, and in 2010 the third-generation station building was constructed. ICOCA IC service began on 13 March 2021. The station is located in the city of Kahoku, Ishikawa Prefecture, with two opposed side platforms connected by a footbridge; the up line is configured as a one-line through track, which down limited expresses also use.
