History

Toyama-Daigaku-mae Station is the terminus of the Toyama Chihō Railway Toyama-gun-dōsen Kureha Line in Gofuku, Toyama, with station number C22. The Kureha Line first reopened the Shin-Toyama-eki-mae–Gofuku section on 20 March 1954 with Gofuku Stop relabelled the (old) Daigaku-mae Stop, a moved Toyama Prefectural Industrial High School-mae becoming Kōgyō-Kōkō-mae, and a new Kyūjō-mae stop in between; the section from Kyūjō-mae to (old) Daigaku-mae was abolished on 1 October 1969 and the surviving stop took the Daigaku-mae name. The line was double-tracked to the station on 24 March 2012 with the opening of the second-generation Toyama-Ōhashi Bridge, and the stop's platform was widened and given shelters on the same day. The stop was renamed Toyama-Daigaku-mae on 21 March 2020.

Notes

The current Toyama-Daigaku-mae stop sits 300 m short of the University of Toyama main gate, prompting the university to seek a westward 1-km extension to the Gofuku Sports Field — a 2024 status report shows the operator open to the idea provided the university covers the extension costs.
