History

Asahi Station opened on 28 June 1926 on the Nagano Electric Railway Nagano Line in the northeastern part of the city of Nagano, where it takes its name from the long-vanished village of Asahi. Centralised traffic control between Asahi and Yudanaka began in 1980. The stop became a B-Express stop with the timetable revision of 13 February 2011, and was made fully unstaffed on 1 July 2021. It carries the line number N8 and has a ground-level island platform reached from the station building by a level crossing. The station is the closest rail access to Aqua Wing Arena.

Notes

The station's name was used for Asahi Sakura, a Tetsudō Musume rail-character mascot introduced in May 2019.
