History

Uchinada Station opened on 14 July 1929 as Awa-ga-saki-yūen-mae Station, serving the nearby Awa-ga-saki Amusement Park on the Asanogawa Electric Railway. After the operator was absorbed by Hokuriku Railway on 1 October 1945 the line became the Asanogawa Line. On 14 May 1960 the station was moved roughly 100 metres seaward and renamed Uchinada Station when reopened to passengers. With the closure of the seasonal Awa-ga-saki-kaigan station on 8 July 1974 it became the line's terminus, a status it retains today. Uchinada was selected for the fourth Chūbu Station Hundred in the early 2010s, and from 12 February 2019 a melody arrangement of the town anthem accompanies departures.
