History

Amori Station opened on 14 March 1985 as an unstaffed station on the Shin'etsu Main Line in the city of Nagano, funded in part by donations from nearby businesses and residents. Staff were assigned at the end of February 1987, just before the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways gave JR East control of the station. Station numbering "SE 12" was assigned in February 2025, and on 15 March 2025 the station reverted to unattended operation, gained Suica acceptance, and was incorporated into the Tokyo metropolitan suburban area. Two opposed side platforms serve two tracks, connected by a footbridge, with entrances on both sides; the Hokuriku Shinkansen elevated viaduct passes immediately to the south.
