History
Tsukuda Station opened on 1 October 1943 as a signal stop on the Joetsu Line in what is now Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture. It was elevated to a full station on 1 January 1948 and inherited by JR East at the 1 April 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways. A new station building was completed in March 2003, replacing the original 1940s structure. The station is unstaffed and consists of two opposed side platforms linked by a footbridge, served by local trains on the line operated by JR East at a distance of 30.5 kilometres from the line's starting point at Takasaki.
