History
Yashiro Kōkō-mae Station, literally "in front of Yashiro High School", opened on 22 March 2001 on the Shinano Railway Line in the city of Chikuma, Nagano Prefecture, 61.8 km from the line's starting point at Karuizawa. The station is operated by the third-sector Shinano Railway Company, which took over the former JR Shinetsu Main Line section in 1997. Originally a simplified-commission station with a window staffed by the City of Chikuma, it was unstaffed on weekends from April 2022. On 14 March 2026 Suica IC-card service began and the ticket window was closed, leaving the two-platform halt fully unstaffed.

Notes
Since October 2021 the station building has doubled as the local branch post office — the Yashiro simplified post office relocated into the ground floor of the station.
