History
Yagawara Station opened on 1 September 1935 as Satake Station (佐竹駅) on the Hitachi-Ōta Spur Line of the Suigun Line. The station was closed from 10 August 1941 until 21 October 1954, when it reopened under its present name Yagawara. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station passed to JR East. It has no station building, only a single side platform serving traffic in both directions, and is unattended.
