History
Ienaka Station opened on 1 April 1929 as part of the simultaneous opening of the Tobu Nikko Line between Sugito (now Tobu-Dobutsu-Koen) and Shin-Kanuma. Located in the city of Tochigi, Tochigi Prefecture, the station sits 52.4 km from Tobu-Dobutsu-Koen. It became unstaffed on 1 September 1973 and was for a time managed under a simplified commissioning arrangement. The old east-side station building was later demolished, and a new structure with a temporary ticket window was built near the south end of the platform. From 17 March 2012, Tobu introduced system-wide station numbering and Ienaka was designated TN-14.
