History
Mibu Station opened on 1931-08-11 with the Tōbu Utsunomiya Line. On 1937-05-14 the Ogura-gawa Gravel Line was added to carry gravel from a riverbed of the Omoi-gawa; that branch was abolished on 1984-02-01. Traces of the freight platform survive on the Shin-Tochigi side and are still visible from passing trains. The station has a single island platform with two tracks, a wooden building west of the line and an underpass linking the building to the platform. Outside the gates there is a separate east–west underpass open to the public, and a PASMO-capable simple IC reader is installed. A sign reading Kyūkō Stop remains in place near the station — a reminder of the Shimotsuke express service that was elevated from Kyūkō to limited-express in March 2006 and that ran until April 2020.
