History

Shin-Kiryū Station opened on 19 March 1913 with the launch of the Tōbu Kiryū Line. The current station building was completed in 1988, distinguished by a clock tower, a weathervane and an interior stained-glass zodiac compass. Tōbu introduced system-wide station numbering on 17 March 2012, assigning Shin-Kiryū the code TI-55. The east-side plaza was rebuilt by May 2021, and an elevator inside the ticket gates entered service on 19 March 2022. The station carries Tōbu's "Ryōmō" and "Revaty Ryōmō" limited expresses and acts as the gateway to central Kiryū.
